The family is a foundation to an individual. From the family a person learns how to engage with the world by a set of values which is clearly represented in the socialization process by the family. The family unit should be a place where one can be enriched and evolved to contribute to the maintenance of life and expand beyond their previous capacity.
Broken people mainly are the results of a broken home, children must be nourished in every way. From a historical point of view we can study about how the black family unit has been under attack since slavery. We can see how our ability to relate and socialize in a healthy way has been greatly compromised due the the trauma we've experienced.
For a family to thrive, everyone must know their role, there must be a leadership in the family that's acts as a moral compass for younger members to emulate. Communication is essential, there must be a collective vision that is understood by each individual.
The family network must be strengthened to extend it's resources to the black community (other families). Without healthy families we are doomed as a people and we leave our children to a never ending cycle of destruction.
